💌 Solo Girls Travel Newsletter

Hello from Spain!

Emy and I have spent the past two weeks together exploring Zaragoza (where Emy lives), Segovia and Madrid.

We've been strolling through beautiful alleyways, eating our way through tapas bars, exploring vintage bookstores and castles. I made some behind the scenes videos.

We've also been developing our Spain travel guide and Spain group trips.

We don’t always get to work side by side, but when we do, ✨ magic happens. ✨

One of the things Emy and I came up with is to send you a monthly Solo Girls Newsletter with a round-up of everything Solo Girl’s Travel Guide. Travel tips, our monthly favorites…and giveaways.

My Credit Card Was Hacked in Spain

It happened at the train station In Barcelona. I had just landed after a 20 hour travel day and was grabbing my first beer and croissant in Spain, before boarding a train.

The mistake I made was this: when paying for said beer and croissant, I inserted my card into the reader. That's all it took to steal my credit card information.

The reader must have been fixed with some skimming apparatus.

As with all travel mistakes, this one had taught me a very valuable lesson:

Never insert, only tap. When you tap-to-pay, it is impossible to skim your information.

Inserting your card = Bad
Tapping your card = Good

Luckily, I was traveling with my Capital One Venture X Card. They have amazing fraud protection. The $141 Aldi transaction was immediatelty flagged and blocked...but that meant that my card was closed immediately.

I'm a planner, so I was prepared with a back-up credit card and had a card saved in ApplePay. So I was not totally screwed, just inconvenienced.😮‍💨

Every month, I'll be giving you access to solo female travel itineraries, group trips, and books.
