Pickpockets don’t look like criminals, though — they look like tourists, kids, even grandmas.

So today, I'm going to teach you: 3 Things to Be Aware of in a Crowd

1. The Commotion Crew

⚠️ Be aware of sudden distractions. They are often orchestrated in major cities like Barcelona or Paris.
​
​Here’s how it works:

• Someone causes a scene; maybe it’s a woman crying or a couple is fighting loudly.
• Everyone looks (including you).
• Meanwhile, their friends stick their hands in your pockets/bags while you’re distracted.

Your move: When you hear a commotion, don’t stop. Don’t watch. Clutch your bag to the front and keep walking. ​

2. The Bump & Grab

Imagine you feel someone bump into your left shoulder — so what do you do? You turn left.

WHILE you’re attention is to the left, their partner digs in your purse on the right.

​⚠️ This is the Bump and Grab. ​
​
Do not let them distract you.

Do This: The moment you feel a bump, anticipate someone on the other side, clutch everything to your front, step sideways.

3. The Clipboard Hustle

⚠️ If a stranger stops you on the street with a clipboard and shoves it right in your face…be aware that their partner might be waiting to take your shit. (You know the game by now).

​Your move: Don’t stop to politely decline. Keep it moving, and say “Not interested” as you leave. Clutch your stuff.

I know it sounds extra, but I’m always aware that I’m a target in crowded areas, not only abroad but in the USA, too. Scan every market, train, tourist trap.
